View Full Version : %r8 fails with Nikon D200 and in IPTC data

Using DLPro 1.8, I tried using %T8_%r8 as the file name when downloading NEF files from a Sandisk CF card with files created by D200. The constructed file names all had a 0 instead of the shutter count.

I also tried setting various IPTC values to %T8_%r8. The values all came out to be value of %T8_%r followed by the digit 8.

So there appear to be two errors: %r8 returns 0 for Nikon D200, and %r8 is not honored in IPTC values.

Thanks for letting me know about this. The shutter count is displayed correctly in BBPro v1.4 but it doesn't appear to be working for Nikon files in DLPro v1.8. I will look into the problem and fix it in the next update.

I've fixed the problem now. You can download Downloader Pro v1.8.1 beta 1 from http://www.breezesys.net/downloads/dlpro181beta1.exe

Thank you; that was very fast! %r8 is now working as expected with the D200 in 1.8 beta 1.

I realise that there is a proliferation of tokens, but would you consider a variant of %r8 (shutter count on a D200) which had leading zeros. I would prefer a 5 digit number, but would settle for 4.

I'm running short of %r tokens, but will give it some thought. However, I suspect that you may have taken more than 999 photos by the time the next version of DLPro is released.

3 digits would give me 999 images. I was suggesting either 4 (9999 images) or 5 (99,999 images). I'm not sure I understand your comment about the next release. I assume I could always do a rename for the ones already taken.

Ferdinand,

I am guessing that %r8 currently uses the number of digits required. I.e., it is a variable length field. On my D200, %r8 uses 4 digits because my shutter count is > 999 and
That means my file names will be one byte longer (D200_9999 followed by D200_10000). While leading zeros would be nice to keep the file name length constant, I can find a way to live with this.

I was just thinking that with a new camera you'll probably rack up the first 1000 pictures very quickly and this will be before the next release of DLPro. If you're worried about the extra digit going from 9999 to 10000 you could always use 0%r8 to give 5 digits now (as long as you remember to change it when you get to 10000).

On a D200, there's no leading zeros - so that the relevant variable for image 16 is just "16", etc.
