Until this morning I ran v171beta2. I decided to give 1.8 a run:

1. As usual I couldn't just install over a pre-existing version; had to uninstall and then install anew.
2. After a few minutes I decided I won't need 1.8 ATM, wanted to roll back to 171b2.
3. Again I had to uninstall and install fresh.
4. I was unable to install either 171b2 or b1 becasue "PolyImagePro.DLL cannot be registered".
5. Installation was aborted, everything installed was automatically uninstalled.

I am now without DPPro. Anybody an idea how to get my originally working installation back?

It sounds as though some other app may be blocking the registration of PolyImagePro.dll. You may be able to fix the problem by locating which other programs are using PolyImagePro.dll and making sure they are all using the same version.
One of the changes in DLPro 1.8 was to rewrite the way PolyImagePro.dll is accessed so that it doesn't require it to be registered as a COM server and therefore prevent other apps from causing problems.

Thought so, hence I looked which version ArchiveCreator uses - the same as BreezeSystem's products. I faintly remember having copied over the newer version to AC a few weeks back.

Well, at last I decided to upgrade since DNG conversion is now an integral part of DP - although I will still have to use the custom button set to open DNG Converter. The simple reason is that I only convert CRWs, ATM, not my NEFs (which are much more numerous). Or do I overlook the possibility to use the plug-in for one camera but not for another?

The DNG converter plug-in will convert all raw files and doesn't have an option to only convert raw files from certain camera models. I don't think it makes sense to add the ability to convert raw files depending on camera model as this a very specialised requirement and would make the plug-in much more complicated.
