I am presently building a photo booth and can't decide. Which is the best to build, one where the subjects stand up or the traditional where they sit down.

Thanks for the help.

I always try to figure what the goal is and what the impact of that decision...

Sit down allows 2-3 seated, 1-2 kneeling and 1-2 leaners

Sit down is slower (less prints per hour)

Sit down "normalizes the height differences"

Sit Down means you must build/buy a robust seat/bench and transport it

Stand Up means more turns per hour, so if you need to get more people per hour through this helps, but if it is an hourly deal, your costs will go up...

I've gone with sit down but a Aluminum bench, so I could go stand up if needed. Primarily will be sitdown though because it is traditional.

The booth I use is all soft sides (pipes & drapes). Since it does not have a built in seat, I use two folding chairs WITHOUT arms. (I can usually get these from the event - though they are easy to carry)

This arrangement allows 2,3,4 (all seated) in standard style posing, more when the people get creative. The chairs are easily removed if someone wants to have a stand-up session (the camera must be adjusted for the higher focal point) and put back if need be.

To make the pictures look better, I allow the inner drape to cover the backs of the chairs.

So far, it has worked just fine.
