So, I was having some pretty consistent issues with one of my booths giving the 0x00000081 HW error.
I narrowed it down to a monolight that was shorting out and I assumed was making it difficult for the camera to trigger.

Well, the problem is back and on my brand new booth.

I'm running:

T2i (hooked up to a belkin 4 port hub)
Westcott Strobelite, 150 Watt Second Monolight (via smith victor hot shoe adapter)
clean instal Win 7 Home Prem 64bit Pentium P6200(2.13GHz) 4GB DDR3
DSLR Remote Pro Ver. 2.4

The problem is very intermittent and doesn't always happen.

I had it happen to me once last after first making the booth and I hoped that it was just a fluke.
It then happened to my partner not long after that and now this past Saturday it happened to one of my teams repeatedly.
The problem seems to get worse over time as it has with a couple of other cameras of mine so when it starts happening at an event it will keep happening over and over again.

I've been stress testing the booth in question for over an hour and can't get it to happen, but that was the case with the other booth...as soon as the mechanic is looking at it...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The most likely causes are hardware problems such as the USB cables, power supply issues or the equipment overheating.
