When I print to file at 10x8 inches and 400 dpi the files created just contain coloured vertical bands. It is printing to file correctly at 300 or 350 dpi.

Is there a size / dpi limit?

There isn't any size limitation but it might fail if you use outrageously large settings. I just tried this with a 20D JPEG set to 10x8 @ 400 dpi and it worked fine. What type of image is it and what settings are you using in page setup?

Settings are:

Margins 0.40 in
Output dpi 400
Resize to fit page
Centre in printable area
6 cols 8 rows
Spacing 0.05
Add border

Make portrait & landscape thumbs same size

Thanks for the info about your settings. I tried this with a number of 8M pixel JPEGs from my 20D, 350D and 1DMkII and both full size and contact sheets work fine.
What version of Windows are you using? (I tested this on WinXP Pro).

I'm having the problem on my main pc which is XP Pro SP2 + all current updates, 1 GB ram and loads of hard disk space.

I received the registration details from you yesterday so I've also installed BB Pro on my notebook, XP Pro SP2 + all updates with 512 MB ram and only a few GB of hard disk space and it works without problem on the same source files at 400 dpi.

It looks like it's a non-BB Pro configuration issue with my main pc.

I have experienced this too several times. Sometimes it works and at the moment it's not working.

I just tried processing several pages with four photos per page and they all come up as coloured vertical bands.

I have, Windows XP, SP2 all recent updates.
My BB output settings are:
2000x3000 @ 300dpi (also tried 240dpi)
jpg quality 90.

This has worked previously - So it could be an intermittent system software conflict? ie Something else running in the background?

I've just retested this with 900 JPEGs using the settings you described and it worked fine. It might be worth reinstalling the latest version of BBPro just in case it is an installation problem.

Still not working.

I reinstalled BBpro over the top of the existing v1.2.2.
Then I uninstalled and reinstalled BBpro 1.2.2.
Neither of these reinstalls fixed the problem.

Then I installed v1.2.1 over the top of 1.2.2. - No Go.

Tested with 4x photos per page. (2x2)
The biggest file size output I could go was 1540 x 2000. @300dpi
Going to 1541 x 2000 fails.(3,082,000px)
Going to 1540 x 2001 fails.(3,081,540px)
Going back to 1540x2000 works.(3,080,000px)
Going to 1539x2001 works.(3,079,539px)
Going to 1535x2005 works.(3,071,535px)
Going to 1536x2005 works.(3,079,680px)
Going to 1536x2010 fails.(3,087,360px)
Going to 1536x2008 fails.(3,084,288px)
Going to 1536x2006 fails.(3,081,216px)
Going to 1536x2005 works again.(3,079,680px)
Going to 1000x3000 works (3,000,000px)
Going to 3000x1000 works!
Going to 1400x2100 works!

There seems to be a 3,080,000px limit?

I need 2000 x 3000. Not even the preset A4 output setting works.

The photos are from a 1Dmk2.

Can a few of you others try this please.

Any other suggestions?

I don't know what's going on, but after a shutdown and reboot - today everything is operational again - using A4 size output @ 300dpi.

I must have some software that is causing a conflict??

I'll monitor for common issues.

I am still having problems. If I do the 'Print to File' soon after bootup, things are fine. But if I do some heavy memory use, say video or RAW conversion, 'Print to File' only produces white vertical bars on black backgrounds.

Is it possibly a memory issue. If while I have this issue I use smaller Print to File sizes, it works. I have to reboot to get things working properly again.

Has anyone else tried this - say after a full days work?
