Is it possible to determine the camera orientation for an AVI file. I have an IXUS 400 and sometimes take video in portrait mode. I am able to rotate these using other software but in order to automate my downloads it would be useful to pick this up from the EXIF info (assuming it exists). Do you know of any way to do this for AVI files?

Many thanks
Alistair.

The shooting data for AVI movie files from Canon cameras is stored in the accompanying THM thumbnail file. Unfortunately it appears the orientation data is not stored in the THM files for AVI movies and so there is no way of detecting the camera orientation.
